  • There are different provisions depending on the nationality of the person. Nevertheless, bureaucracy is kept to a minimum for both employees and employers.
  • Workers living in Liechtenstein generally do not need any kind of permit, regardless of their nationality.
  • A permit is, however, required for apprenticeship positions. These positions may only be offered by employers with a training permit.
  • Workers living outside Liechtenstein, known as "cross-border commuters", are subject to a range of different provisions in order to receive a permit.
  • Citizens of other countries require a cross-border commuter permit before starting work in Liechtenstein.
  • This permit is issued for one year and is only approved by the Migration and Passport Office if certain conditions are met.
  • One of these conditions is that it was impossible to find a worker not requiring a cross-border commuter permit.
  • The application must be submitted to the Migration and Passport Office at least 14 days before the first day at work.
  • Applicants can only start working in Liechtenstein once they have been granted a cross-border commuter permit.
  • Citizens of other countries working in Liechtenstein will be taxed also in Liechtenstein.
  • The best chance to get a job in Liechtenstein is to find a company that is willing to employ you.
  • Once the company offers you a job, they will help you through the procedures.
  • There are different levels of procedures, and the things are the easiest for Swiss citizens. Work permits for third countries nationals are quite difficult.
  • Once you get your work situation arranged, you will have two options: live in Liechtenstein or become a cross border worker.
  • If you will live in Liechtenstein you will also require a residence permit.
  • Residence permits have a strict quota, even for EEA citizens, therefore I strongly recommend becoming a cross border worker.

Work Visa from Nigeria to Liechtenstein Requirements

  • Fully completed and signed visa application form
  • Two recently taken photos. Both photos must be taken within the last three months and must follow all visa photo requirements.
  • A valid passport which is not older than 10 years. It should be valid for at least three more months beyond the date you plan to leave Liechtenstein.
  • A round trip reservation or itinerary. This must include dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from Liechtenstein.
  • A travel insurance policy. A document that proves you have travel health insurance for the whole Schengen territory, with a minimum coverage of 30,000 euros in case of any medical emergency as illnesses, accidents and even repatriation in case of death.
  • Proof of accommodation. A document that shows where you will be accommodated throughout your stay in Liechtenstein.
  • Proof of financial means. Evidence that you have enough money to support yourself financially throughout your stay in the country. This can be one of the following:
      • Bank account statement – that shows you have enough money in your account for the trip. The statement shall be no older than 3 months.
      • Sponsorship Letter – by another person that confirms they will be financially supporting your trip to Liechtenstein. In order for this letter to be valid, it must be accompanied by a bank statement of the sponsor, no older than three months.
  • Proof of paid visa fee.  €60 for adults and €35 for children from 6 to 12 years old.
