History of Gurara Waterfalls

Gurara Waterfalls was discovered in 1745 by Buba, a Gwari hunter. It was named after two gods that the Gwari people worship; Gura and Rara. The falls was the spiritual refuge of the Gwari people that they turned to when faced with problems. In 1925, it was turned into a recreational center by Europeans.

Now, Gurara waterfalls is one of the biggest natural tourist attractions Nigeria has to offer. Foreign and local tourists can enjoy their time at Gurara falls at periods when the fall is at its peak (April to November) or even at its lowest (January to March).
