The Solomon Islands is a sovereign state consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands. The country is well known for its islands, beach resorts, and beautiful scenery. Scuba-diving destinations are accessible in almost all parts of the country. The gigantic Marovo Lagoon and Iron Bottom Sound are two of the more popular destinations for scuba-diving. At the bottom of these two destinations, dozens of sunken warships from World War II can be found.
